Job Description - Racing Car Driver
Becoming a professional racing car driver is the glamorous job many men and women have dreamt of and this dream can come true, however it will take a lot of hard work determination and dedication. Formula 1 racing is the most familiar competition but there are over 200 other race meetings every year. Racing is a very expensive sport and many people start off their path to success by finding sponsors. Training & Qualifications The first step to becoming a racing car driver is to join a recognised motorsports club. To go circuit racing you need a Race licence which is issued by the Automobile Club Motor Sports Association. To obtain this licence you must apply to the MSA for a special pack which includes the information you will need and a medical form which needs signing by you doctor. Licence tests include a theory and a practical test. When you have obtained your licence the next step is to make sure you have a car with the proper equipment including rollcage and fire extinguishers, and you will need fireproof overalls and a crash helmet. Personal Qualities A Professional Racing Driver needs lots of stamina and concentration and be alert with a high level of physical fitness.
